- The Gardener - Sunday, September 30, 2007

Peace, my heart, let the time for the parting be sweet.
Let it not be a death but completeness.
Let love melt into memory and pain into songs.
Let the flight through the sky end in the folding of wings over the nest.
Let the last touch of your hands be gentle like the flower of the night.
Stand Still, O Beautiful End, for a moment, and say your last words in silence.
I bow to you and hold up my lamp to light you on your way.

- --------------------------------------------------------------------------
When she passed by me with quick steps, the end of her skirt touched me.
From the unknown island of a heart came a sudden warm breath of spring.
A flutter of a flitting touch brushed me and vanished in a moment, like a torn flower petal blown in the breeze.
It fell upon my heart like a sigh of her body and whisper of her heart.

- Both poems from 'The Gardener' by Rabindranath Tagore, translated from Bengali.

BEAUTIFUL
there are 85 poems in this book and they are ALL as BEAUTIFUL as these two.
If you let the imagery play in your mind, take the time to see everything he describes, you will be in a whole nother place and feel the same things he felt while he wrote his poem. I reccomend The Gardener.

zomg. dood. that's really just...like, breathtaking. the imagery seems so light, and airy, and carefree, but at the same time is like, embedded with a deeper, heavier meaning. gaaah. it gave me chills. but good chills.
that really is just so beautiful, being able to spin such an intense, resonating image. GAAAH. lol i can't get over how beautiful it is!!!

ehmygawd. if u haven't seen the show "private practice" on abc, u NEED to. the encore show tonite was SOOOO GOOD it made me cry. srsly. its a spinoff off of greys anatomy, but i think its SO MUCH BETTER. u would like it. like this show was about how there was this baby and she was really sick and wouldn't live til age five, and the doctors find out that they were switched at birth, and they're trying to find out who did it. so there's this one older couple who had tried for years and years and years to have a baby through donations and stuff, and they got the healthy baby. and then there was this regular couple who got the really sick, dying baby (they're both girls btw). and then all of a sudden they figure out who switched the babies and the older couple who had tried so hard was actually supposed to get the dying baby. it was SO SAD, like, it just made u think about how there's just this sudden change, and what it would feel like if all of a sudden ur baby girl is taken from u and ur given some other dying baby who is supposed to be your child. like, what defines a mother to her child?
and at one point the older mother was like crying and saying "i could just take her far away and no one would ever know.."
and one of the doctors, allie, goes "but u won't. because a mother never turns her back on her child. not a strong mother."
and then at the very end, when the two moms are giving each other the babies, the younger mom doesn't even want to look at her new, healthy baby, and the older woman tells her she has to "because she's your child." and says the same thing that the doctor said to her.
ugh
it was SOO GREAT. i can't get over it.
